ARMEN HYUSNUNTS

Armen Hyusnunts is a saxophonist, flutist, composer, arranger, bandleader of the Armenian State Jazz Band, Honoured Artist of Republic of Armenia.
Armen Hyusnunts completed his studies at the Sayat-Nova Musical School, piano department, and in 1984 entered the saxophone department at the Komitas State Conservatory, Yerevan (1991-1993 Komitas State Conservatory, post-graduate department, instrumental performance- saxophone).
In 1990 he was invited to perform with the State TV and Radio Jazz Symphonic Orchestra of Armenia and became the leading saxophone player for two years.
Armen, togehter with Khachik Sahakyan, created the ethnic jazz quintet Time Report. Some of his original compositions as well as instrumental arrangements of Armenian songs were performed and recorded in the band's albums. Its hard to get a full picture of Time Report without Armen Hyusnunts unique style.
From 1992 to 2004 he was the principal saxophonist at the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1997 to 2005 he was a member of Armenian State Jazz band, the musical director and the soloist.
In 1998 Arto Tuncboyaciyan formed the Armenian Navy Band and asked Huysnunts to play in it. From 1999 to 2005 he worked at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas as a tutor of saxophone. In 2000 Armen Hyusnunts founded the ''ArtaSax'' Saxophone Quartet.
In 2011 Armen Hyusnunts was awarded the title of the Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia. In 2011 he became a member of Penman Jazz band.
